Matt Abbott Poet

Over the last year or so I’ve been delivering a range of workshops at the National Coal Mining Museum on a fairly regular basis, and I’m thrilled to announce that I’ve now been pointed their official Poet-in-Residence.

The marriage of my coal-mining heritage and my spoken word career has been a delight since day one, and I’m extremely proud to hold this post. Coal-mining and poetry do go hand-in-hand, and since Kellingley Colliery closed in December ’15, I’ve found myself involved with the coal-mining community far more often.

Here’s to a fruitful relationship with NCMME – if you’ve yet to visit then I strongly advise you doing so!
