National Poetry Day is one day in a poet’s calendar when they’re guaranteed work. And more often than not, this involves visiting a school – which is undoubtedly one of the highlights of being a jobbing poet!

This year I was in Essex, at Cornelius Vermuyden School on Canvey Island. I delivered workshops on the theme of ‘Change’, and the school enjoyed it so much that they’ve posted a blog (click here).

I regularly work in Primary and Secondary schools around the UK, as well as in Further Education and with non-formal learning groups. It brings joy to me to be able to spread my enthusiasm and passion to poetry, and to present it in an accessible manner.
