Whilst researching the cultural history of Wakefield’s city centre for another project, I was approached to write a poem for Nationwide Building Society’s new High Streets campaign. The timing was perfect, and I’m dead chuffed that they’re now using the poem on their national TV adverts.
As you probably know, I was one of the first poets to first launch their Voices campaign back in September 2016 with my poem about home. This was an incredible opportunity and I’m very grateful to have been asked to feature again.
Now to finish that research and get cracking with the original project…
Very disappointed to see that Nationwide are only committing to branches on high streets for 2 years, not exactly anything to boast about

Hi S. Firstly, I’m not an employer or representative of Nationwide, so you’re barking up the wrong tree. Secondly, it’s 2 years minimum – they could hardly make an unlimited promise and it’s unwise to make a solid guarantee for more than 2 years (as far as I’m aware). The banks are closing branches left, right and centre. Ta.
