I’m dead happy to announce that I’ve been commissioned to create some work for the ‘Onto The Streets’ project, as part of this summer’s Long Division Festival in my native city of Wakefield.
I performed at the first ever Long Division back in 2011, and have appeared several times since both as a poet and with Skint & Demoralised. My commission for next month’s festival will see short poetic odes to former music venues, displayed in empty shop windows.
The idea is that I’m looking back at what we’ve lost, whilst also hinting at what we’re yet to build. My project is called ‘Repeated Subtraction’ and will be on display throughout the whole weekend (29 May – 2 June).
There are a whole host of other commissions across a range of art forms. Have a look at them on the Long Division website here, and get to the festival if you can!
