A week ago today, I was out doorstepping in drizzly Dagenham. I honestly had no idea what would happen in the General Election and I still carried genuine hope that we might remove Boris Johnson from government.
Obviously I was catastrophically wrong, and am still a long way from healing from the moment when the exit polls were announced…
However, I still want to link to this poem. I was commissioned to write it for Jeremy Corbyn’s official GE campaign and social media channels. The poem was voiced by Oscar-nominated actor Michael Sheen, and even in the face of a substantial defeat, I still feel immensely proud of it and hope that the messages will continue to be valid.
