I’ve used this month’s spoken word column in The State of the Arts to announce Nymphs & Thugs‘ ‘LIVEwire x Lockdown’ project. It’s something that I’m immensely proud of and marks a transformative period for the label in the face of COVID-19.

In short, the project sees Suhaiymah Manzoor-Khan, Saili Katebe, Kirsty Taylor and Sean Mahoney join the label. They’ve been delivering free online workshops to an underrepresented community of their choice. We then commissioned them to work with an artist from a different discipline to create a piece in response.

‘LIVEwire x Lockdown’ online première event on Thursday 10 December

Those pieces will be released as singles next Friday (11 December) and are available to pre-order via the Nymphs & Thugs Bandcamp site. There’s an online première event taking place on Facebook on Thursday 10 December, which will involve me chatting to each of the poets before giving a world exclusive sharing of their commissioned pieces.

So, yeah…dead exciting, basically. Can’t wait for you to see ’em!
