Performing my poem ‘Lost, Somewhere Between’ in Leeds back in February

This morning, it was announced that my poem ‘Lost, Somewhere Between’ is Highly Commended by the Forward Prizes for Poetry in the Best Single Poem – Performed category.

It’s a huge deal to have my work recognised by such a prestigious prize. It also means a lot to be recognised in the performance category. There’s still a lot of snobbery around “spoken word”, and this category’s creation was a significant moment for the wider scene.

I’m even more buzzing to see my incredibly talented better half, Maria Ferguson, on the list. Huge congratulations to everybody else who was Highly Commended, as well as everybody on the shortlists and longlists.

This poem features in my début adult collection, Peacocks Can’t Swim, which is out with Broken Sleep Books on 31 January. Pre-order link to come soon!
